Tiny Tots
During your child’s time as a Tiny Tot, they are offered a more structured curriculum.
They are introduced to time tabled art & craft classes, music classes, gym time and free play. Activities such as puzzle time and play dough are introduced to help coordination and gross motor skills. Dress up is also a structured activity which is greatly enioved by this age group it helps their imagination, self-esteem, and confidence to grow.
We encourage each child to discover new things as they develop, toys are at their level in order that they might make their own choices as to what they would like to play with thus encouraging independence.

Our Teaching Method:
Aistear Curriculum Framework:
Here at Lansdowne Lodge we acknowledge the pedagogical value of both the Aistear Curriculum Framework and adhering to the Siolta Standards. All of our Units embrace the child as agentic and individual and try to immerse each child in their own interests in order to help their development from all aspects. Aistear also focuses strongly on Partnership with Parents, which is something we value here – as we try our best to invite open communication.
Montessori Method of Teaching:
Once the children reach two years old, we begin to introduce them to the Montessori Method teaching. At first, we introduce basic materials and present them to the children based on where they show most interest. In our Senior Montessori Unit, we utilise the Montessori method fully as the children begin to be exposed to more advanced exercises and materials whilst still following their interests. Montessori follows the theory of freedom with limits, which means the children can develop a love for learning in a prepared environment that is less formal, and more integrated. Montessori uses the five areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Arithmetic, Language and Culture to present its materials to the children, with the help of the Montessori teacher that scaffolds the child so that they can explore their classwork with support when needed.
